Contraception for Beginners 2 Day Course
About the event
This is a 2 day course:
Day 1: Tuesday 12-Nov-2024
Day 2: Tuesday 26-Nov-2024
Both days must be attended to receive a certificate. After you have attended day 1 you will be invited to attend day 2.
This is a two part training course (one and half days) and you will need to attend both days to receive your certificate and your Practice Assessment Document (PAD)
Day 1 – Day one covers the female and male anatomy, the female reproduction cycle and conception. You will learn about the various types of contraception, how they work, how to start them as per the UK Medical Eligibility Criteria (UKMEC) considering user preference, contraindications and safety. We will discuss common side effects such as problematic bleeding and how, if necessary to switch from one method to another. This session will also give you an overview of the use of emergency contraception, what to do with missed pills etc. and how to effectively complete an annual contraception review.
Half Day 2 – Day two is a half day revision where we use some guided case studies to really bring it all together. There is an opportunity for questions and discussion. We will also go through the Practice Assessment Document with you so you can start to utilise it in clinical practice.
These sessions are designed for clinicians who do not have any training in basic contraception.
