Aim:
To introduce you to the models, strategies and approaches to health promotion and explore the health inequalities that currently exist.&nbsp; We then introduce you to the elements of the NHS Health Check (touching on the Vital 5 Mental Health Check) for patients.&nbsp; This will provide you with the knowledge and support to begin to undertake the NHS Health Check independently, understand the results and be able to give brief advice to your patients.

By the end of the session you will:

<li>Be familiar with the procedures and tools to undertake the NHS Health Check.</li>
<li>Understand the ways we can prevent and educate patients to protect them from the risk of disease.</li>

<li>Identify some of the health promotion strategies in relation to current health priorities.</li>
<li>Have had an opportunity to explore how the theories can be applied in practice.</li>

<li>Understand what motivational interviewing and Making Every Contact Count is, and how these can be used to improve outcomes for patients.</li>
<li>Be prepared for a period of supervision in practice to become competent in undertaking the NHS Health check.</li>

Please Note: This session is not to be undertaken instead of the Vital 5 Check training if this is delivered in your practice;&nbsp; this course provides some additional learning to help you develop the confidence to have a brief conversation with your patient about their mental health whilst they are attending for their Health Check, and signpost if required.

Bromley AHD - Women's Health 

This training will equip your nurse with the fundamentals of teaching and supporting learners in practice. This will enhance the nurse's knowledge and will be a step towards becoming a nurse educator.This course has been rebuilt from the ground up, using the 2019 NMC's Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment. The course has been re-designed to be more engaging and interactive. It is a requirement that you have access to your camera and microphone for this session, to allow you to participate to the session as if it was a normal classroom environment. There will be quizzes throughout the course to assess learning.This is a 2 day course and both days must be attended in full and attendance will be tracked. The dates for this course can be found below -Day 1 - 27-March-25 (day 1 covers the history of SSSA, the new roles and how to give feedback. This is an interactive session which involves discussion, and it aims to give you the tools you need to be a Practice Supervisor.Day 2 - 28-March-25 (day 2 covers the next steps, signing off midpoint, final interviews, action plans and how to fail a student. It will equip you with the tools you need to be a Practice Assessor. The aims is for you to attend this course with the commitment to taking a student in the next 3-6 months)Completing this course will equip you with the skillset needed to support students. Those who complete this course will be allocated a student nurse placement to host. Once you have completed this course additional follow-up sessions and guidance will be available to further support you when you are hosting students.

Monitoring physical measurements and vital signs help us to understand how our body is functioning and to detect and monitor any health issues as well as alerting health care professionals to any possible concerns.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;This is an introductory session on taking patient’s physical measurements and vital signs and developing clinical skills in a safe environment.

Aim: To gain an understanding of what physical measurements and vital signs are, why they are undertaken and to practice how to accurately perform these and document the results.

Intermediate/Advanced -  An Exciting Journey into better Diabetes Care

Attending this study day you will revise the cardiovascular system with onus on how CVD and CHD impair the normal functioning of the heart and circulatory system. We will consider the populations most at risk and why, and how to identify these groups earlier.Aims of the session:<ul class="tight" data-tight="true"><li>Understand acute coronary heart disease - with a focus on angina, STEMI and NSTEMI.</li><li>Know the signs, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment guidelines.</li><li>Learn about the impact of hypertension, diagnosis guidelines including staging and the real impact of non-pharmacological treatment strategies.</li></ul>

NMP Update - Cardiovascular 

This study day will provide a revision of skin anatomy, types of wounds - including acute and chronic and the phases of wound healing. We will look at appropriate cleansing techniques, use of dressings and assessment and management of pain. It is appropriate for beginners and those requiring a refresher.

Wound Care and Burns

The aim of this session is to teach you the role of a Chaperone in care and clinical settings, including the current guidance along with an understanding of why a chaperone might be needed. SSSA update for practice assessor(s) and practice supervisor(s) as part of Health Education England's process for the re-approval of educators and PCN and Practice Learning Environments, educators over a 4-5 year period.Following the SSSA update presentation, trained PA/PS nurses and nurse associates will provide evidence of peer review on an episode of teaching. This review will consist of a small group where each will present a 10-minute micro teaching session or a short case study on a chosen subject.The guidance and peer review update has been designed to facilitate a reflective process and enable a formative assessment for trainers.

This is the place to exchange experiences and real examples of best practice, exchange ideas, share comments and offer suggestions. This drop-in session is also well placed to ask questions and get advice related to placements or supervision and assessment of students.
